Capillary fragility - is an extremely common problem, especially among the female population. There are many underlying causes of the condition, both benign and pathological. The capillary wall is rather thin and this is important, because thanks to this key feature, the metabolites are transferred from the blood to the cells.
Under normal conditions, despite such a fine structure, capillary walls withstand blood pressure without cracking. It should be emphasized that the health of capillaries, and therefore the tissues that they supply, depends not only on the strength of their walls, but also on their quantity.
Causes of fragility of capillaries
The fragility of capillaries can be due to:
- a genetic predisposition;
- nutrient deficiency (especially vitamin C and vitamin P);
- temporary hormonal changes (pregnancy, premenstrual phase);
- excessive insolation;
- overweight;
- lack of physical activity;
- stress.
Among the pathological causes, it is worth highlighting: Enels-Danlo syndrome, Cushing's syndrome, Marfan syndrome, and among iatrogenic - hormonal therapy.
Symptoms of fragility of capillaries
The fragility of capillaries is manifested in the form of spot hemorrhages, manifested in the form of spots of various sizes (petechiae, bruises and bruises), especially on the face and legs. The problem with capillaries is especially obvious when it comes to a condition called «purpura».With purpura, hemorrhagic manifestations tend to occur spontaneously or after minimal trauma.
Therapy for capillary fragility
With the exception of the pathological and iatrogenic causes, capillary fragility therapy consists in changing the patient’s nutrition and behavioral habits. Berries: Raspberries, blackberries, currants and gooseberries, as well as cherries, plums, citrus fruits, green tea, and supplements with omega-3 fatty acids have effectively proven themselves.
In herbal medicine, the use of pollen and preparations rich in flavonoids (blueberries, ginkgo biloba) is widespread.
Of the pharmacy products used for capillary fragility, classic examples of vitamin C, escin, rutin, hesperidin should be mentioned. The preparations of the bioflavonoid group are also important, which, when interacting with vitamin C, improve the health of capillaries and increase the elasticity of the venous walls. They are also useful in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, thanks to antihypertensive, anti-inflammatory and lowering cholesterol properties.
