Laser liposuction is a new line of liposculpture; it removes excess adipose tissue by selective interaction of the laser beam with adipocytes.
How does it work?
The membranes of these fat cells are destroyed by laser heating of peak power, and the cellular contents, which are an oily solution of low viscosity, are removed by a micropump or syringe. Laser lipolysis can be done on any area of the body that has a fatty component.
Who is laser liposuction recommended for?
Laser liposuction is an outpatient procedure that does not require hospitalization, is minimally invasive and is performed under local anesthesia. After exposure, it is very important to wear a bandage or elastic stockings for at least 15 days in order to accelerate the resorption of puffiness and hematomas, as well as in order to improve the retraction and adhesion of the skin and subcutaneous tissue of the treated area. That is why laser lipolysis is effective not only to remove excess fat, but also in the case of sagging skin.
Rehabilitation period
About a week after lipolysis, it is advisable to start a massage cycle: twice a week, at least for 4 minus 5 weeks. Avoid intensive sports, tanning beds and saunas for at least 15 days. To eliminate a small area of localized fat, one lipolysis session is enough; however, the procedure can be repeated in the same places in the case of large fat accumulations in 2 to 3 months.
The results of liposuction will be obvious after the first two to three weeks (for example, when lifting the buttocks). The duration of the procedure varies depending on the size of the treated area; from a few minutes to an hour.
Contraindications and side effects of laser liposuction
There are no specific contraindications for liposuction. However, laser liposuction is not a suitable technique for significant sagging skin and advanced age.
Possible side effects of laser liposuction: erythema (redness), bruising, swelling, local pain. It should be noted that laser lipolysis can not always replace surgical liposuction. Only the surgeon determines when it is advisable to use a laser, and when not. In addition, laser lipolysis can not be considered as a method of losing weight, it is not able to replace proper nutrition and physical activity to maintain adequate muscle tone.
