You will agree, sometimes there are situations about which it is shameful and inconvenient to talk. Especially for the ladies. We are talking about such a delicate problem as urinary incontinence (UI).This phenomenon is more common than you imagine. Millions are familiar with it. According to statistics, in European countries, about 40% of women suffer from urinary incontinence. UI is a condition that adversely affects the quality of life of a person and it is impossible to hush up the problem.
It should be noted that urinary incontinence is more common in older people, and in women more often than in men. Urinary incontinence is divided into:
- stressful;
- urgent;
- mixed.
Stressful UI - is the most common. In this case, a provocateur can be physical exertion, coughing or laughing. This condition develops due to weakened pelvic floor muscles. In this case, a little urine is released. Often found in women during menopause and after a difficult birth. (This type of UI occurs in men, for example, after prostatectomy, radiation therapy.
Urgent UI takes the second place in frequency. In this case, an involuntary contraction of the bladder is noted. As a result, its controlling function is lost and urine flows. The basis of the problem are reflex disorders of a neurological nature.
Mixed UI UI - characterized by the fact that there is a sudden urge to urinate when coughing, laughing or physical exertion
Risk groups
Stress UI:
- pregnancy;
- birth breaks;
- muscle weakening;;
- menopause.
Urgent UI:
- infectious diseases of the genitourinary system ;
- neurological diseases;
- brain tumors;
- urolithiasis disease.
Treatment of UI
The treatment of UI can be either conservative or surgical. The choice of method depends on the type of incontinence. With a conservative approach, great importance is attached to special exercises to strengthen the muscles of the pelvic floor (Kegel Exercises). With the surgical method - sling operations. On the basis of the Center for Reproductive Medicine we resort, for example, to transobturator sling plastic.
It happens that people suffering from UI try to drink less to at least somehow supposedly control the situation. Such a campaign is fundamentally wrong, and as a result of such self-restrictions, you can get not only constipation. but also hemorrhoids. Do you need it? If the above problems with urination are not alien to you, do not limit yourself to fluid, laughter or physical exertion. There is a more banal and effective way – to contact a specialist.
