How to find out - did ovulation occur in this monthly cycle or not? How to«catch» an oocyte? For many women who want to become pregnant (and especially those who have experienced polycystic), determining the moment of ovulation is literally vital.
Ovulation - is the exit of an oocyte from an ovary into body cavity. Then the oocyte enters the fallopian tube. It is here, in the fallopian tubes, that fertilization takes place. In the case when the oocyte «did not come for meeting» then there in not an option of any pregnancy.
Methods for ovulation determining:
- ultrasound - monitoring;
- test;
- basal temperature schedule formation.
С УЗИ With ultrasound and the test everything is extremely clear. We take the money and go to the ultrasound diagnostic room or to the pharmacy to buy ovulation tests.But there is a more «budget» option, which is feasible for any patient of the Bogoliuby Reproductive Medical Center. This is a commonplace measurement of basal temperature, with the subsequent schedule formation.
Where to begin? With the purchase of an ordinary thermometer, in case you hadn’t at home one. (A mercury thermometer is preferable to an electronic one.) A little more liquid paraffin, a notebook, a pen and patience. That, in fact, is all that is needed for an «oocyte » hunt
We will keep a record of temperature from the first day of menstruation. Recall that basal temperature - is body temperature, measured in the rectum. It should be measured early in the morning, without getting out of bed. When going to bed, do not forget to put a thermometer and a clock near the bed. We measure the temperature for ten minutes, we record its value in a notebook.
Now we are building a graph in the coordinate system. On the X axis - we postpone the days of the monthly cycle - 1, 2, 3, etc. By Y is the temperature. And we are not lazy, we carefully draw the curve of the graph for 28 or 30 days (until the 1st day of the next month cycle).
An ideal BT schedule is clearly divided into two phases. For about the first 12-14 days, temperature indicators are from 36.3 to 36.8 C degree, and then there is a rise above 37C degree. This leap means that the oocyte has left the ovary. This temperature lasts until the onset of menstruation, then goes into decline. But ideal graphics are not drawn at all and not always.. If there is no temperature rise, for example, this indicates that there was no ovulation in this monthly cycle.
There are a number of factors that should be considered when creating a BT schedule, these are:
- taking medications;
- cold;
- masturbation, or sexual intercourse;
- change of a climatic zone.
The BT schedule helps you to choose the days suitable for conception. For this, it is necessary to measure the basal temperature for at least 3-4 months. From the moment the oocyte is released, we count back 3-4 days (sperm viability) and 1-2 days in advance (oocyte viability). If while 3 cycles, ovulation occurred on day 12 first, and most of all on day 19 later, then making simple calculations: 13 - 4 = 9 and 19 + 2 = 21, we get the following picture - the probability of getting pregnant is the highest between the ninth and twenty the first days of the cycle. The rest of the days are «safe» for unprotected sex. (Conditionally, naturally.)
If you doubt in the correctness of decoding your BT schedule, take it with you to your next appointment with a gynecologistу. Specialists of the Bogoliuby Reproductive Medical Center will help you to figure it out.
